I thought this Shin Zushi set would be a lighter dinner. Berry estimated the whole meal at roughly 1,050 kcal. That’s about the same calories as four bowls of rice—but the calorie total wasn’t the whole story. 👀

Most of the estimate came from two parts of the order: • 5 nigiri, including 1 with mayo: ~380 kcal • 4-piece aburi unagi roll: ~380 kcal The sashimi, chawanmushi, miso soup, salad and watermelon made up the remaining ~290 kcal. Portions and sauces vary, so this is an estimate—not a restaurant nutrition label.

The other number I’d pay attention to: roughly 50g protein for the full meal. 1,050 kcal is still a substantial meal. But the protein estimate gives you more context than the calorie number alone. High-calorie doesn’t automatically mean “bad.” It means the rest of your day still matters.

If I wanted a lighter order next time, I’d keep the sashimi and simpler nigiri, then choose either the rich roll or the mayo-topped pieces—not both. Chawanmushi or miso soup can make the smaller order feel more complete without adding another rich roll.

Berry can turn the meal photo into an editable estimate, so you can correct the items or portions it got wrong. Which Malaysian restaurant should Berry break down next? 🍓
